Abby Finklestein (Mimi Kennedy)
"Let's all take a deep breath…" That's Dharma's mother's favourite line.
A typical flower-child-mother, if such a thing exists, Abby (Mimi Kennedy)runs a co-op for alternative education where people resolve all their differences by taking a deep breath together.
She continues her struggle to keep her daughter from being swallowed into the "dark side," but in the spirit of open-mindedness and universal acceptance, has grown to love and accept Greg. Fortunately, her tolerance extends to his country-club mother and father, though the latter's utter lack of comprehension whenever Abby tries to help, does sometimes percolate through her sweet, gentle naivete.
Edward Montgomery (Mitchell Ryan)
Edward Montgomery (Mitchell Ryan) is Greg's father. The typical blue-blooded, country-clubbing, weekend-golfer, he spends most of his life making more money and trying very hard to ignore Kitty, who runs his life with fussy bossiness.
Less uptight than his wife, he is, nevertheless, a product of the establishment, and often finds himself in arguments with Dharma's father Larry, who is the exact opposite.
Edward does begin to appreciate Dharma's sense of fun, and his wilder, more romantic side is revealed as he begins to listen to Kitty. And uncovers, a long-buried love for, of all things, hairdressing and dress design!
Jane (Shae D'Lyn)
Jane is Dharma's best friend. A loyal, violent, over-protective 20-something with loads of eye-makeup and a smouldering attitude that extends even to the way she brushes her teeth.
She is completely manic and has absolutely no graces, but that doesn't seem to deter Pete, Greg's pretentious friend. He is fascinated with Jane and they begin a comic affair that involves many trysts in poor Greg's office.
Pete Cavanaugh (Joel Murray)
Pete is Greg's pretentious co-worker and football-watching buddy. He loves to give advice, but unfortunately, he's not terribly bright, and usually ends up looking quite foolish.
He's attracted to Jane but approaches her with a hypnotised air, much as he would a snake.
Funnily enough, though he's absolutely a slave to social status, he doesn't display much tact and is nearly always putting his foot in his mouth and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.
