Jenna Elfman (Dharma)
California-bred Jenna Elfman is undoubtedly the star of
Dharma & Greg. She's won a Golden Globe, American Comedy, People's Choice and TV Guide award, all for the same role! It's safe to say Dharma wouldn't exist without her.
While still quite young, she thought she might want to become a nun, but it soon became clear that she had the soul of an entertainer. She's a varied performer with great intelligence and spontaneity, and is a classically trained dancer.
She has stage experience as well, with a notable performance in the play,
Visions and Lovers: Variations on a Introduction.
Recently she appeared in the feature comedy
Keeping the Faith. She's also in the feature film,
Town & Country, with Warren Beatty, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn.
Other big screen outings include
EDtv, Krippendorf's Tribe, and
Grosse Point Blank.
Thomas Gibson (Greg Montgomery)
Thomas Gibson's plays Dharma's husband Gregory Clifford Montgomery. He is the youngest of four children, whose father left his mother when he was six. Growing up, he excelled in baseball, golf, swimming, soccer, and football and has been performing since he was 10.
His film career began in
Far and Away, with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. He was also in
The Age of Innocence, Love and Human Remains, Barcelona, Sleep With Me, Psycho Beach Party and Stanley Kubrick's
Eyes Wide Shut, among others.
STAR World watchers will remember him from his role as Danny Nylan in
Chicago Hope. Television roles include Armistead Maupin's acclaimed miniseries
More Tales of the City, A Will of Their Own, Lincoln, The Kennedys of Massachusetts, and Louisa May Alcott's
The Inheritance.
Susan Sullivan (Kitty Montgomery)
Two-time Emmy nominee Susan Sullivan's hilarious depiction of Kitty Montgomery in
Dharma & Greg has garnered her a Golden Globe Award nomination.
She also starred in the long-running hit series,
Falcon Crest, It's a Living, Rich Man, Poor Man, Julie Farr, MD, and
The Monroes.
Born in New York, Susan has been on Broadway, where she starred in
Jimmy Shine opposite Dustin Hoffman, and S J Perelman's
The Beauty Part.
Numerous telefilm roles include
The Comedy Company with George Burns,
The Ordeal of Dr Mudd, and
Panic on Page One, among others. You probably remember her from the box-office hit,
My Best Friend's Wedding.
Alan Rachins (Larry Finklestein)
Alan Rachins plays Dharma's pony-tailed Bohemian father Larry.
A Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor, he is well remembered for his role as Brackman on
L.A. Law.
Born in Boston, Alan studied at the Wharton School of Finance before moving to New York to study acting. He performed in a series of plays, including
After the Rain and
Hadrian the Seventh, The Trojan Women and
Oh! Calcutta!
He is a fellow in the writing and directing programmes at the American Film Institute. He is also a scriptwriter and has sold his work to a variety of shows, including
Hill Street Blues, Fall Guy, Hart to Hart and
Knight Rider.
