As the new season kicks off, the team continues to investigate a psychopathic killer who has challenged the team by sending them a series of clues and riddles. As the team splits up to hunt down the killer, Dr. Reid stays behind to work on the clues and uncover a personal connection that cannot be ignored and could solve the mystery.

In this new season, Paget Brewster (Huff) also joins the cast as FBI Special Supervisory Agent Emily Prentiss, the daughter of high-powered diplomats who must prove to Gideon and Hotchner that she deserves a place on the team.

Guest stars this season include JoBeth Williams (Dexter), Jessica Tuck (High School Musical 2), Keith Carradine (Deadwood), James van der Beek (Dawson's Creek) and Amy Madigan (Carnivāle).
