Once again the judging panel of Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, along with host Ryan Seacrest, will be on the lookout for music's next sensation. Tune in to see more wannabe warblers, deluded divas and off-key performers as American Idol returns to STAR World with a brand new season.

Last year, 16-year-old vocal powerhouse Jordin Sparks outshone beat-boxer Blake Lewis and became the youngest winner in Idol history. This season, Idol wannabes need to show more than just their vocal prowess. "We knew Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood could play the guitar, but we really couldn't show it," says executive producer Nigel Lythgoe. "If [the contestants] can play an instrument, we want to be able to see that this year."

Since its 2002 debut, American Idol has been producing one megastar after another. Past winners like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have built on their Idol success and become Grammy-winning pop sensations. Idol also launched the careers of chart-topping artists such as Chris Daughtry and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.
